Meet Rebecca

Dr. Rebecca Thomas PT, DPT, TMBE
Mother | Physical Therapist | Thompson Method Breastfeeding Educator
Greetings! I’m Rebecca, owner of Milky & Sunshine, and I’m delighted to share a bit about myself. First and foremost, I’m a dedicated wife to my supportive husband, Ryan, and a nurturing mother to my two beautiful kids, Jackson and Olivia. My family brings unimaginable joy and happiness to my world!
As a family, we love to spend time enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors. Exploring nature brings us joy and strengthens our family bond. Whether it's hiking through scenic trails or simply enjoying a picnic in the park, we find solace and inspiration in Mother Nature.
Professionally, I’m a pediatric physical therapist, dedicated to helping children overcome physical obstacles and reach their full potential in life. I have years of experience in this field, and I find immense joy in helping children develop their motor skills and improve their overall physical well-being and quality of life.
In addition to my work as a physical therapist, I’m also a certified Thompson Method Breastfeeding Educator. This esteemed certification allows me to provide valuable support and guidance to pregnant women and new mothers on their breastfeeding journey. Following the birth of my own children, I found a deep love for breastfeeding and the benefits it provides for both mother and child. However, I also firmly support every woman’s choice in how she wants to feed her baby.
Thank you for joining me on this wonderful adventure, and I look forward to connecting with kindred souls who share a love for their families.
With warmest regards,
Rebecca Thomas
My Breastfeeding Journey and The Thompson Method
I wanted to share a little bit about my breastfeeding journey. When I first became pregnant with my son Jackson, I was determined to breastfeed him and even bought a breastfeeding book to learn more. Just like many other first-time moms, there were so many other things on my to-do list to prepare for his birth that I only skimmed through the book. I ended up experiencing a cascade of interventions during my labor with him and had an unexpected cesarean section. The complications continued with breastfeeding; he was very sleepy, we struggled with positioning and forceful techniques, and I had many tears as I struggled alone to breastfeed him. While I am proud to say he successfully breastfed for 9.5 months, it was a struggle every step of the way, and I ended up having to stop breastfeeding him prior to my goal of 1 year.
Fast forward to my pregnancy with my daughter Olivia. The first thing I started doing was researching for a better, more gentle way and seeking more education about breastfeeding. I found the Thompson Method and could not have made a better investment during my pregnancy. While all did not go as planned, and I had another unexpected cesarean section, I did have my 3 Golden Hours, and more importantly, I was able to confidently breastfeed my daughter from the start. When we had some minor hiccups along the way, The Thompson Method team was right there to support me, and I never struggled alone. This is the reason I am so passionate about educating you, so that you are also able to meet your unique breastfeeding goals!
About The Thompson Method
Dr. Robyn Thompson, Founder
RM, RN, M&CH, BAppSc, PhD
After spending decades guiding women through labor and birth as a midwife, Dr. Robyn made a curious observation: Women who gave birth to their babies at home had significantly better breastfeeding outcomes than those who gave birth in the hospital.
Dr. Robyn made it her mission to find out why that was the case and, at the age of 70, she was awarded the world's first Ph.D. in nipple trauma.
Her seven years of Ph.D. research became the basis for The Thompson Method, and her online programs have helped tens of thousands of women prevent and overcome common breastfeeding challenges.
My Vision
"By sharing my knowledge, experience, and wisdom, my aim, before I leave Mother Earth, is to encourage a movement of strong, empowered women and mothers who have the confidence and knowledge to make informed decisions for themselves and their babies, even when faced with unexpected or difficult situations."
